Pupil Premium

Free School Meals

We want to make sure that every eligible pupil claims free school meals.  Please refer to our Pupil Premium Statement of Intent, which can also be found on our website (see below).  It outlines how children benefit besides receipt of free school meals.

Transitional Protection for Free School Meals is changing.   The current update we have from the council re what does this mean for families?

  • Any child currently eligible for free school meals under transitional protection will continue to be eligible for free school meals until the end of their current phase of education, for example children in year 1 will continue to be eligible until they leave primary school in year 6.
  • Any child who becomes eligible for free school meals up to 31 March 2025 will continue to be eligible for free school meals until the end of their current phase of education, for example children in year 1 will continue to be eligible until they leave primary school in year 6.
  • Any child who becomes eligible for free school meals on or after 1 April 2025 will be eligible for free school meals but will be assessed regularly and if there is a change in their circumstances and they no longer receive a qualifying benefit, they will lose entitlement to free school meals.

We would encourage you to check to see if you are eligible before the 31st of March by going to the website

or phone on 0300 5008080

Pupil premium is a sum of money given to schools each year by the Government to support the education of disadvantaged children. Schools can choose how to spend their pupil premium money, as they are best placed to identify what would be of most benefit to the children who are eligible.

The document below, our pupil premium strategy statement, explains how our allocation is spent and the intended outcomes.
