With the ever expanding use of the internet in all areas of life it is becoming even more important to be safe when using it.

 

Within the school curriculum, we highlight the positive and negative aspects of the internet and ways in which pupils need to protect themselves when online. There are many different websites that can help you to understand the dangers of the internet and many which provide advice and guidance on how to help protect your child whilst they are on the internet. Our goal is to provide valuable resources and information to help you support your child to navigate the online world safely, as well as to empower them to make informed decisions.

  • National Online Safety Parents Course This course takes you on a detailed journey through your child’s digital habits, explaining the type of online world they’re experiencing now, what risks they might be exposed to and just what you can do to support
  • BBC Own It Support for young people to take control of their online life, including help and advice, skills and inspiration on topics such as friendships and bullying, safety and self-esteem.
  • Childline Includes information for pupils on various aspects of online safety
  • Family Activities This page contains activity sheets for families and videos with tips for parents and carers on the following areas: viewing videos online, cyber security, social media, sharing images, livestreaming and online gaming.
  • Common Sense Media A range of reviews and advice on all kinds of media, including books and films. It is an excellent tool to find out more about specific apps or games your child may want to use.
  • NSPCC Includes a range of resources to help parents keep children safe when they're using the internet, social networks, apps, games and more.
