Click HereOn Wednesday the tenth of February 2016, the Eco-warriors of Arno Vale Junior School planted 5 beech trees on the school grounds.
Each class in the school has 4 Eco-warriors. Their role is to prevent litter, recycle paper, turn off lights and think about how to take care of the planet. The beech trees were acquired through a grant from the Greenwood Community Tree Scheme.
Yesterday’s special ceremony was attended by the warriors themselves, Mr Rossington (the Head teacher), Miss Carter (Year 3 teacher and Forest School specialist), The Mayor of Gedling and a representative from the Greenwood Trust.
The children planted 4 of the 5 trees. The final beech was left for the mayor.
It was a great success, enjoyed by everyone who participated. The children really loved the chance to talk to the mayor too.
Hopefully, the trees will grow and provide the children with some much needed shade.
