Arno Vale Junior School

We are extremely proud of our two football teams, both of which have gone through the season undefeated and, as a result, have qualified for the knock out stages of the competition.  The girls team are defending champions and will be hoping to retain that title, whilst the boys team look to have a great chance of going all the way after some breathtaking displays.  The final league tables and the quarter-final schedules can be seen below.

More success for the school football teams!

Our Y5/6 girls team played in a tournament on Monday 1st October and finished third.  The team won three and drew one of their four matches and only lost on penalties in the semi-final.  Miriam was the top-scorer and all of the girls were a credit to the school.

The following evening, the boys team won their competition and earned a place in the Nottinghamshire County Final.  The boys won four and drew one of their five matches and beat Ernehale 3-1 in the final.  As always, the boys played with superb attitudes and sportsmanship.

Both teams will also be competing in a Gedling league this season.

Y5/6 Girls' Football: Gedling Champions 2017/18 1

Our Year 5/6 girls' football team played against Willow Farm in the final of the 2017/18 Gedling district football competition.  Willow Farm took an early lead, but a magnificent comeback meant that Arno Vale lifted the trophy.  The final score was Arno Vale 2 (Evie, Neve) Willow Farm 1.  Both teams put in so much effort and the game was very entertaining to watch.

This now means that we have now lost just two league matches since Spring 2014 and in addition, we have also won several tournaments in that time.

Well done girls!

Great night for one of our boys football teams at a tournament! All of the boys were fantastic and displayed all of the values throughout.

The girls' football team and boys' football team both qualified for the knock out stages of this year's competition.

See for league tables, information and fixtures.

The girls' team lost 2-1 to Richard Bonington in the quarter final.

On Saturday 11th March, Arno Vale students were lucky enough to be mascots and ball boy/girls for Carlton Town FC. All of the children represented our school wonderfully. They were respectful, polite and appeared to thoroughly enjoy themselves throughout the afternoon. I was extremely proud of all of them.

Thank you!

The previous evening saw our boys team win silver medals at their tournament.  Having won the semi final on a penalty shootout, they played Good Shepherd in the final.  The match went to extra time when Good Shepherd scored a late winner to lift the trophy.  A fantastic effort from the Arno Vale boys!

Semi Final result:

Mapperley Plains 7 Arno Vale 6

Two outstanding teams, a stunning comeback and a dramatic late twist.  This match had everything!  Mapperley Plains raced in to a four goal lead within 15 minutes before Jemima pulled one back just before half time.  Arno Vale came out for the second half in fine form, quickly bringing the score back to 4-4 thanks to some stunning strikes from Jemima and Takiah.  Arno Vale then completed the comeback by going 5-4 ahead but Mapperley fought back to equalise.  A brilliant strike from Ella put Arno Vale ahead again with just two minutes left but in a cruel twist, Mapperley found two last gasp goals including the winner with the last kick of the game.  Good luck to Mapperley in the final.  They will be up against last year's runners up Parkdale.

Quarter Final results:

Good Shepherd 9 Arno Vale 1

Arno Vale 7 All Hallows 2

Six goals from Takiah and a stunning strike from Jemima secured our place in the semi-finals.  We will play Mapperley Plains (away).  Every single member of the squad contributed to what was our best performance of the season so far.   The girls' football team is now unbeaten in 14 league matches, going back to 2014.  Our aim is to progress to the final and become Gedling Champions for the second year in a row.

Earlier this year, children from local schools were invited to enter a competition to design a new football kit to celebrate the opening of the new Aldi store in Daybrook.  The prize for the winning design was to have the kit made for the school to use in sports events.  We are absolutely delighted that Edie in Year 6 was chosen as the winner.  Our new kit has now arrived in school and it looks absolutely stunning!  Photos will appear on the website and in the local press over the next few weeks.
